Intimate waxing – Your questions answered

Intimate waxing is often a taboo subject, yet it’s one of our most popular treatments and probably the one treatment everyone secretly wants to try, yet they find it embarrassing to ask.

So we thought we would give you the lowdown on the most frequently asked questions we get asked all the time.

1/ Does it hurt?

The majority of our clients tell us that it’s nowhere as near what they were anticipating, and pain levels will vary from client to client, you may feel a little discomfort or a slight sting but this will be significantly reduced on and after future regular wax. In our experience your first treatment can be slightly uncomfortable when it’s a feeling you have not experienced before, but our highly trained intimate waxing therapists soon put you at ease and make you as comfortable as possible. Our clients tell us after their second or third wax they notice significantly less hair regrowth and less pain with each appointment.

2/ Can I use the toilet when I arrive before my treatment?

Yes, no problem at all we have a bathroom fully stocked with wipes and sanitary products to freshen up with, before and after your treatment.

3/ Can I have a wax if I am on my period?

Yes, no problem at all, it’s more common than you think and you can wear a tampon during your wax, we can work around it. We also have tampax available in our bathroom if you wish to change before or after. Some clients can feel a little more sensitive around their time of the month so If that’s you you may wish to avoid this time.

4/ How long does my hair need to be?

Your hair needs to be no shorter than a grain of rice (5mm) we can still wax you but if your hair is to short you won’t get the best results possible. Ideally 4 weeks growth from your last wax or 3 weeks growth from your last shave, but once you start your waxing journey we strongly advise against shaving in between waxes.

5/ Am I too hairy?

Absolutely not, one of our therapists says “The hairier the better” please don’t worry; we really have seen it all before, we have clients of all shapes and sizes. Often new clients can feel a little uncomfortable during their first treatment, but we promise all we want for you is to have the best wax possible and to feel totally at ease.

6/ How long will it take?

We allow 40 minutes, that gives you time to use the bathroom, have a consultation and talk about your preferences and aftercare advice with your therapist, so 30 minutes or less for your actual treatment, but this may possibly be quicker after your first few waxes.

7/ What is the difference between a Hollywood wax and a Brazilian wax

A Hollywood involves removal of ALL of the pubic hair, from the front, between the legs and between the buttocks, the whole shebang. A Brazilian is sometimes nicknamed” The landing strip” same as a Hollywood but leaves a small neat strip at the front, just let your friendly therapist what you prefer.

8/ How often will I need to rebook?

For best results we would recommend 4-6 weeks, yet after your third regular wax you may find you can start to leave your appointments a little longer, but that will be down to your personal preference. Most of our clients find that regular waxing means their hair regrows thinner and finer. After a week you may notice a small amount of regrowth, it can take 3-4 treatments to get onto a good growth cycle for best results

9/ What can I expect during my treatment?

We operate a no fuss procedure, we are trained to carry out the treatment as quickly and efficiently as possible, so you will need to get naked from the waist down, and yes nickers will need to come off! If this does make you feel a little uncomfortable please speak to your therapist during the consultation and she will talk through how she can help and put your mind at ease.

We remove every single hair from the inside, outside, back, front and underneath, and we will need to stretch some areas of skin while the wax is removed.

We use hot wax for intimate waxing as it is far more suitable for waxing sensitive areas, your therapist applies the wax with a wooden spatula, which is thrown in the bin after every dip and a new spatula used every time (no double dipping), once the wax has hardened, its quickly peeled back removing it from the skin along with the hairs. If any stray hairs are left behind your therapist will tweeze these. Finally a soothing lotion or oil is applied to prevent irritation and prevention of ingrowing hairs.

10 / Can I get an intimate wax if I am pregnant?

Yes you can, although we would recommend you wait until the 12 week scan for the all clear to go ahead with your waxing, and if you have never had intimate waxing before don’t wait until the last minute before your due date to get your first ever wax.
